The replaceable cotton insert resembles a traditional all-cotton futon mattress. It is at its softest new and will get firmer over time, and the top of the mattress will never be perfectly flat.

Please note: the King cotton insert is made using two Twin XL inserts.

FIRMNESS RECOMMENDATIONS

The Cotton Coil is a Firm mattress that uses a 4-layer Cotton insert similar to a Shikiibuton mattress. The cotton batting only comes in one firmness, so comfort exchanges under our Layer Exchange program are not included. However, alternate comfort layers, such as Organic Dunlop latex or traditional foam, are available for an additional charge.

Warranty Note: The Cotton coil mattress resembles a traditional futon mattress. What does that mean? The top isn't perfectly flat, the cotton insert will get firmer over time, and only the coils are covered by a body impression warranty.

All our hybrid latex spring mattresses are made with a Caliber-Edge spring system. The innovative ActivEdge™ system with the new Eco-Base creates a more durable, environmentally friendly mattress system that eliminates the need for a polyurethane foam encasement.

PURE COTTON BATTING

All our cotton-based mattresses are made from pure virgin cotton batting grown and processed in North America. Cotton batting provides a firm, but not hard, sleeping surface that works well with the elasticity of latex.

Shikibuton Floor Mattress - Organic Cotton & Wool

HAND-TUFTED MATTRESS INSERT

Part spring mattress, part futon mattress, and fully breathable. The replaceable 4-layer cotton batting inserts are made in a traditional tufted futon style for a unique latex-free natural hybrid mattress. As with any cotton-based mattress, ongoing maintenance (flipping, rolling, and pounding) is recommended to help create a more consistent wear pattern.
